Guest Services Coordinator

The Recreation Department of the Community Engagement and Cultural Services division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Guest Services Coordinator. Reporting to the Guest Services Supervisor, this position offers a 72-hour bi-weekly schedule during the operational hours of 6am to 9pm, Wednesday to Saturday, and every other Tuesday or Sunday. The ideal candidate will be able to start work in mid-September 2025.
The Guest Services Coordinator’s role is to assist the Guest Services Supervisor in overseeing the front desk and arena at Meadow Park Sports Centre, ensuring efficient, courteous, and quality customer service is provided to guests and the community alike. This position will provide significant administrative support, including but not limited to schedule creation and distribution, communications and website updates, recreation programming, booking coordination, and financial management. The Guest Services Coordinator will support the front desk, to take admissions, complete program registrations and provide general information about the facility and the RMOW, while also assisting the Facility Booking Coordinator, to create new facility bookings and contracts, and coordinate events. This position will lead the front desk team by providing supervision to the Recreation Cashiers/Receptionists and assisting with staff recruitment, training, and coaching. Additional duties include programming and supervising public skate and drop-in hockey sessions, managing the skate shop, and overseeing patrol staff. On weekends, this position is the main point of contact, ensuring smooth operations and handling communications, troubleshooting, and problem-solving. Additionally, this position will assist with continued implementation, support and general troubleshooting of the Recreation Software System, Xplor Recreation.
Qualified candidates will have a grade 12 diploma, an Administration or a Recreation Management diploma supplemented by at least 2 years of experience leading and supervising customer service staff and considerable experience with point-of-sale; reservation system management; cash float/cash out reconciliation; and strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of basic accounting principles, recreation programming, and facility bookings will be considered an asset. Experience with the recreation software systems Xplor Recreation and a valid first aid certificate will be considered strong assets. Candidates must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

The starting wage for this position is $34.87 an hour.
As a requirement of the position, the successful applicant must hold a valid BC class 5 driver’s license and must provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract and a satisfactory Police Information Check prior to beginning employment.
