Skills:

  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to develop and execute complex program plans.
  • Strong budget management experience, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within financial constraints.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver clear, concise reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing a diverse team, including staff, volunteers, and contractors.
  • Knowledge of environmental issues affecting Whistler and the broader region, with a passion for sustainability, conservation, waste management and growing organic food.

Responsibilities Include:

The Program Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the execution of several of AWARE’s projects and programs including (but not limited to) food security, youth education and engagement and active transportation.

  • GROW – A community greenhouse and garden initiative that helps residents grow their own organic food while strengthening local food security and reducing climate impacts. The program also donates high demand, nutrient dense produce to the Whistler Food Bank and fosters social connection through shared learning and volunteerism. The Program Manager will explore ways to make the program more inclusive to people of all backgrounds and demographics by identifying and reducing barriers to participation.
  • Young Voices, Big Impact – This program empowers Sea to Sky youth to take an active role in local climate action through experiential learning, advocacy and volunteering opportunities. The Program Manager will develop and grow this relatively new program into something truly inspiring and impactful for local youth.
  • School Education Workshops – Workshops teach students in grades 4, 7, and 10 how waste impacts the environment and what actions they can take to reduce it.
  • Go By Bike Week – A biannual campaign encouraging residents to swap car trips for bike rides which builds momentum for broader low-carbon transportation engagement.
  • Additionally, the Program Manager will lead volunteers, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure high levels of program accountability and performance.
