Webinar: 2024 Board Governance Training (session 1/3)
Governance refers to the oversight of an organization. Proper oversight involves simple, effective monitoring systems to help your board govern properly.
In three, 90-minute, inspiring modules, Deb provides an overview of best practices in board governance. These sessions serve as both an orientation to good governance as well as a refresher for those who have previously received governance training.
The following will be explored in three live, online modules:
What is the board’s role in good governance? What are bylaws, policies, terms of reference and what do you do with them?
How do you handle your board’s year effectively and efficiently within volunteers’ limited time? We discover the board’s annual work plan, meeting agendas and strategic plan.
How do you find the right people for your board? We talk about the recruitment and development of all your directors, having effective committees, and the senior staff person’s annual performance review.
Workbooks are available for printing prior to the sessions. Free access to practical templates, exercises and examples is also included to help kickstart the development of each board’s governance practices.
This training is being offered at a significantly discounted price made possible with the generous support of our facilitator - Thank you Deb McClelland!
Governance Trainer & Principal, OnBOARD Training
Over the years, Deb’s passion has been to assist boards in realizing their potential by travelling around the country mentoring, teaching and facilitating numerous workshops on the subject.
Deb has studied board governance for over fifteen years, primarily through The Governance Group, based in Vancouver. She has served on many boards, including national and provincial boards, for over thirty-five years. She also worked as Executive Director at the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce for fifteen years, supporting her board of directors as they transitioned to a solid governance model. Within all these experiences, she came to realize that governance, when done right, could be fun and easy. That is why she has developed governance workshops, including a streamlined strategic planning process, that are highly effective, engaging and inspiring.
Deb has been recognized as Executive of the Year and Chamber of the Year by her provincial network and Executive of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada. Most recently, she was appointed to the Council of Excellence by a panel of her peers across the country and appointed as Fellow of the BC Chamber of Commerce.
