Sales & Events Manager

The Sales & Events Manager reports to the Director of Sales & Events onsite at the SLCC, Whistler, BC. This dynamic role blends sales and events planning; it is full cycle from lead generation through to event execution. You have a passion for hospitality, are results and standards driven and inspired by Indigenous Culture.

Salary band starts at $65,000.00 annually and is dependent on experience. We offer extended Health Benefits, RRSP Matching Program, WB Seasons Pass, Health & Wellness spending account, Training and Development budget.

Sales

  • Proactively seek and develop new business opportunities through networking, and community engagement; ensuring timely follow-through on potential business.
  • Coordinate and conduct site tours, provide exceptional customer service and demonstrate strong knowledge of SLCC offerings.
  • Maximize upselling opportunities.
  • Prepare and issue contracts and collect required deposit payments; utilizing event software system to track event details, notes, and sales information.
  • Consistently achieve or exceed sales targets set by the Director of Sales & Events.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to align on sales strategies and product messaging.
Catering Events
  • Serve as the primary liaison between SLCC and guests, ensuring smooth event planning and execution.
  • Manage all client communication and complete Banquet Event Orders.
  • Create event floor plans and coordinate with the Executive Chef on Food and Beverage selections.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef, and Cultural Sharing team for seamless event delivery and smooth client handoffs.
  • Participate in Tripleseat meetings with cross-departmental managers to provide operational overviews of upcoming events.
  • Provide on-site leadership and support for key events as needed.
  • Maintain accurate financial tracking and records in Tripleseat.
  • Build and nurture relationships with local partners, key allies, and industry contacts.
Team Commitment & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales & Events to enhance group event offerings.
  • Monitor industry trends to evolve offerings.
  • Actively participate in Sales & Events meetings, projects, and event preparation/activation as needed.
  • Provide feedback and communicate event insights effectively to management.
  • Represent the Director of Sales & Events as required.
  • Empower teams to deliver exceptional guest service.
  • Follow SLCC policies and procedures.
How you know you are the right fit:
  • Act as the “Service Champion” for sales and events, providing excellent hospitality.
  • Result-oriented, with strong analytical skills.
  • This role involves periods of standing, walking and lifting up to 50lbs in weight.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Disciplined and motivated to work independently to achieve results.
  • Approachable and professional manner, with a positive attitude.
  • Passion for our culture first perspective - people, tourism and service.

 

Experience and Education

  • 2 + years’ experience in Sea to Sky Tourism Hospitality and Sales.
  • Education or training in sales, marketing, communication, tourism or business (lived experience welcome).
  • Able to work a varied and flexible schedule as required to meet business demands (select weekend or evening work may be required).
  • Systems and Administrative Proficiency – Event Management Software, CRM, and POS.
  • Clear criminal background check.
