About the Role

Spicy Sports has been Whistler’s locally owned ski, snowboard and cycle shop since 1992.

We are rebuilding our tuning and service shop and are seeking an experienced Tuning Shop Supervisor to lead the operation year-round. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for running the workshop, restoring our customer and partner-shop tuning service, and training a team of technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily operation of the tuning and service shop.
  • Set workflow priorities and manage turnaround times during peak periods.
  • Lead, schedule and train a team of three to four technicians.
  • Train and support less-experienced technicians.
  • Operate, calibrate and maintain computerized and automated stone-grinding and tuning machines.
  • Diagnose equipment faults using computerized testing equipment and service or replace components as required.
  • Perform ski and snowboard tuning, waxing, edge work, base repairs, binding mounting and binding testing.
  • Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer specifications.
  • Coordinate pickups and deliveries for partner-shop demo fleets and customer equipment, including occasional evening runs.
  • Manage workshop inventory and consumable supplies.
  • Maintain workplace health and safety standards.

Requirements

  • At least three years of ski and snowboard tuning and servicing experience.
  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining computerized or automated tuning and grinding machines.
  • Experience with machine calibration, fault diagnosis and component servicing.
  • Previous supervisory or team-lead experience.
  • A relevant trades certificate, diploma or equivalent practical experience.
  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • Willingness to complete a criminal record check.
  • Fluent English.
