Guest Speaker: Madeleine Baker
Director, Technology Strategy, Procurement & Supply Chain at TELUS
Maddy has had a broad and exciting career within the Procurement & Supply Chain field. Within TELUS, Maddy leads the IT & Technology Services Procurement team, including responsibility for resale spend for TELUS Business Products and Services. Prior to this role, she led the Procurement Strategy and Innovation (PSI) Team, and was responsible for leading the future state strategy, processes and policy within the function, in addition to operational management of compliance, risk, offshore support, Supplier Diversity, technology, and data intelligence.
She is a strong advocate for expanding the profile and impact of Supplier Diversity within Canada, and sits on the WBE Canada Board of Directors, CGLCC Procurement Council and GroYourBiz Vancouver Board.
Prior to joining TELUS in 2016, she held progressive roles within GlaxoSmithKline in Europe and North America, ultimately holding the position of Head of Procurement, United States, including responsibility for delivering the organisation’s Supplier Diversity commitment.

Ashifa Jumani has her BSc. from UBC, SCMA and a diverse and exciting career in Procurement for over 20 years. She has worked in various industries from technology, to pharmaceuticals to banking. Ashifa started as a junior buyer and took on roles of increasing responsibilities to reach her current role as Director, Chief Procurement Office at TELUS. She is responsible for over $1B in spend in various categories including Marketing, Human Resources, Customer Equipment, Real Estate, Supply Operations, Mobile Technologies, Travel and Finance.
Ashifa leads a team of ten high performing professionals across Canada and thrives in her leadership role, achieving a 100% team engagement score every year since she became a Director with recognition from TELUS’ CEO for her outstanding contribution to fostering and elevating TELUS’ culture.
Ashifa is a strong advocate for diversity, committing herself to such organizations as CAMSE, WBE and GroYourBiz where she sits on the South Surrey board supporting women-owned business’. Ashifa is a strong role model and believes in coaching and mentoring others in order for them to achieve their goals and fulfil their potential.
When she is not busy conquering the world, Ashifa enjoys spending time with her daughter in the outdoors, cooking and watching TED Talks.
