EMCEE: HEATHER PAUL
Community Advocate / 2017 Citizen Of The Year Award recipient /
Heather Paul has lived in Whistler for the past 23 years, intending to stay only for one season. She soon fell in love with the snow, summer, built a little family and moved into a WHA home. She is the Executive Director of the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, and is honoured to work with and learn from the youth and leaders of the Lil’wat Nation and Squamish Nation. Around the turn of the century Heather Paul started a little community theatre company called Whistler’s Short Skirt Theatre Company and enjoyed almost every minute of writing, directing and hamming it up on stage with Whistler’s bravest and best. In 2017 Heather was the recipient of Whistler’s ‘Citizen of the Year’. She is pretty sure the absence of Facebook and social media during her first few years in this community may have had a lot to do with her qualifications for the humbling honour.
