SUMMARY:Intercultural Awareness at Work (in-person\, two day course)
DESCRIPTION:Understand cultural differences to build a supportive and inclusive workplace!\n\n\n\nUnderstanding diverse cultures improves interaction between employees and positively impacts businesses and the world around us. This accredited course is delivered over 1.5 days in-person. Students will leave with an understanding of cultural differences and how to employ cultural empathy in a diverse work environment. Topics of discussion include unconscious bias\, intercultural sensitivity\, and how to communicate and celebrate cultures and differences rather than perpetuate bias and stereotypes. Students will also acquire tools and strategies to support the retention and development of employees from varied cultural backgrounds and promote diversity\, equity\, and inclusion in the workplace.\n\n \n\nUpon successful completion of this course\, students will be able to:\n\n\n	\n	Demonstrate cultural self-awareness as it relates to the participant's work environment.\n	\n	\n	Employ cultural empathy and communicate effectively in intercultural work settings.\n	\n	\n	Acquire intercultural tools and strategies to support the retention and development of employees.\n	\n\n\nThis course will be held over two days\, with a max capacity of 20 participants. Please note registration will no longer be available after the November 14th registration deadline.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNew students to BCIT will need to register for a BCIT A# in order the register (the same link can be used if you have forgotten your A#)\n\n\n\nThis course has been vetted and approved by the BC Employer Training Grant program. As an employer\, you can apply to receive 80% of the cost of training\, up to $10k per employee. Documentation will be provided upon request.\n\n\n\nIndividuals might find the new StrongerBC Future Skills Grant helpful.\n\n\n\nWhistler Experience Program Benefits\n\nUpon registering for this event as a Whistler Experience participant\, you will have full access to all Whistler Experience program benefits\, including the Whistler Blackcomb Spirit Pass. If you then fail to attend the event\, your pass will be suspended and access to all benefits will cease.
